Biography

Hi, I'm Matilde, I'm 17 years old and I'm a senior member of the Onda Azzurra Majorettes. I started this sport in 2016 when I was only 8 years old. Initially, I considered it a hobby, but as the years went by, it turned into something much bigger. It is a passion that I carry forward with commitment, sacrifice, and a lot of love. Being a majorette doesn't just mean learning to spin a baton or marching with bands. Behind every practice and every choreography, there is dedication, consistency, and a lot of willpower. I learned that every small bit of progress requires patience and that discipline is fundamental to reaching your goals. Competitions are a fundamental part of this sport. Every competition is a different emotion: there's the adrenaline, the fear of making a mistake, but also the satisfaction of performing after months of preparation. Competitions have taught me to believe in myself, to manage tension, but above all, not to give up in the face of difficulties. Even when things don't go as I hoped, I learned to get back up, understand my mistakes, and turn them into motivation to improve. One of the most beautiful things about this sport is the relationship with my teammates, who have become life companions as well as teammates. Among us, we share not only training and performances but also moments of support and true friendship; we encourage each other, help each other in difficult times, and celebrate every milestone of each of us together. The greatest value of our group is precisely the strong bond we have. In recent years, I have been taking a seminar that will lead me, upon passing the exams, to be an MWF trainer. It is a journey that, besides training me as an athlete, helps the group grow and allows me to pass on the passion I have for this sport to the younger girls. Seeing them grow and improve fills me with pride and satisfaction. Looking back, I realize how much this sport has made me grow, not only as an athlete but also as a person, and I feel lucky to have had the chance to see the great growth of the group over the years. Majorettes taught me to work hard to reach all my goals and never give up. There are times when you win and times when you lose, but every "defeat" is a step forward toward something bigger. I am proud of us and can't wait to see what we will achieve in the future. Famous quote: "So anxious!"
